Residents of Mill Road near Nutts Corner and schoolchildren from Crumlin Primary School have been evacuated to the local community centre following reports of a suspicious device being found.
Mr Burns said: “Such attacks are attacks on the whole community. These pipebombers have nothing to offer anyone except disruption and mayhem. Absolutely no-one supports their actions and they must cease immediately.
“Leaving a viable explosive device at a primary school, as occurred at St Comgalls in Antrim Town a few days ago, is an utterly despicable act. I have no idea how someone can stoop so low.
“Anyone with any information as to who is behind these incidents should contact the PSNI immediately if we are to prevent injury and loss of life.”
