Burns: Disgust as armed men threaten ambulance crew

SDLP Antrim Borough Councillor Thomas Burns has condemned those responsible for threatening an ambulance crew in the Fountain Hill area of Antirm.

Sun 12th February

Cllr Burns said: “This was a disgraceful attack on paramedics as they courageously attempted to help a man in need of medical attention.

“It is totally shameful that these frontline health service workers have been targeted in this violent way.

“Those responsible must realise the consequences of their actions, not just on the ambulance crew concerned, but the delays which these attacks can have on ambulance services for seriously ill people.

“Ambulance crews are already working in a highly pressurised environment and these types of incidents simply heighten this pressure as they try to carry out their job treating those in need.

“There must be a zero tolerance approach to attacks on healthcare staff and those responsible must be punished for their mindless actions.”
