Mr Dallat said: “I met three trained personnel last Monday as they prepared to begin checking the rockfall- an entire week after the incident.
“People feel that there has been a lack of urgency and while I appreciate that this is a highly specialized task, it seems unfortunate that it took so long to begin checking for further threats of rockfall.
“Eight years ago the Department of Regional Development acknowledged that thee were lessons to be learned after the Derry-Belfast train was derailed in 2002. Since then there have been further collapses, but there has been no concrete plan to address the issue.
“I have tabled a priority question to the Minister for Regional Development Minister, Conor Murphy, querying the continuing closure of the road and the absence of a long-term plan to address the problem of rockfall.”
