Quigley condemns school break-in

SDLP Derry City Councillor Helen Quigley has condemned the break-in and vandalism at the newly built St Cecelia’s School in Derry.

Sun 4th July

Cllr Quigley, who is a past pupil of St Cecelia’s, said: “This is a wanton act of destruction on this fantastic new state-of-the art school in our city which so many people have worked so hard to deliver.

“Money to repair this damage is going to have to be taken out of an already overstretched education budget and as a result pupils will suffer.

“I appeal to those living close by to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity in and around the school grounds. I would also appeal to parents of young people across the city to try to ensure that they are aware of their whereabouts particularly during the holiday season.

“I urge anyone with any information about this incident to pass it onto the police immediately.”
