SDLP North Down Assembly Candidate
SDLP North Down Assembly Candidate Liam Logan is originally from North Antrim but has been living in Bangor for almost thirty years. He is married to local girl Ingrid and they have four children.
Liam has been involved in local politics for some 13 years and is currently Chair of the North Down branch of the SDLP. He has represented the party as a candidate on a number of occasions for Parliament, the NI Assembly and North Down Borough Council.
Liam retired from the NHS in 2009 after 31 years service as a health planner, working mainly in North and West Belfast. Liam is active in his local community. He sits on the Board of Governors at Clifton Special School and Lakewood School and is a former governor at St Comgall’s, Bangor, St Anne’s Donaghadee and a past chair of Arstscare, an organization which brings art to people with special needs.
He is also a former secretary of Strangford Lough Nature Conservation Association, a past board member at Townsend Street Social Outreach Centre on the Shankill Road.
Liam is a fluent Ulster Scots speaker and presented a weekly Ulster Scots show on BBC Radio Ulster for six years as well as writing column in the Newsletter on the language. He still a freelance journalist on this subject and has recently launched a book on the Ulster Scots language.
