SDLP representatives urge caution as 2000 homes left without power
SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan said:
“There is a large scale power-cut affecting 2000 homes in the Northland Area of the City, including Ballymagroarty, Foyle Springs, Hazelbank, the Glen. I’ve spoken with NIE who are attempting to deal with the problem. I have been assured that they will work to restore power by 8.30pm this evening.
“I urge all residents to be careful at home and particularly if venturing outdoors. Please look in on elderly and vulnerable neighbours to make sure they are safe. Take extra care and I’ll endeavour to keep everyone updated. Please contact me directly with any urgent issues.”
SDLP Councillor John Boyle who has been in touch with local residents in the area said:
“It is unfortunate that this powercut has happened and so many families are left without power across this part of Derry.
“The SDLP is working closely on the ground with residents affected and with NIE. We are hopeful that power will be restored to the area in the next number of hours. I urge everyone to take care in the area and to contact the SDLP directly should anyone require assistance. We will do all that we can to keep residents updated on the situation.”
