Hanna welcomes strong EU defence of Northern Ireland

SDLP Brexit Spokesperson Claire Hanna has welcomed a strong defence of Northern Ireland’s economic, social and political interests from EU Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier today. Ms Hanna said that the framework agreement at the conclusion of Phase One of the Brexit talks is not up for renegotiation and London must be held to its commitment of regulatory alignment in areas of North-South Cooperation.

Sinn Féin and DUP reject open call for £4 million Tourism Fund

SF and DUP united to reject a proposal for an open call for £4m Community Tourism Fund at February Council meeting. The proposal was supported by SDLP, UUP, Alliance and Independents. Cllr Tim Attwood has called for a more open evidence and outcome based funding process in Belfast City Council respect of the reallocation of the social outcomes fund to community tourism was turned down. Alliance and SDLP had asked for a legal opinion about the process but this had been negatived.
