McDonnell: Retention of long wave radio positive for listeners in the North

South Belfast MP Dr Alasdair McDonnell has welcomed an announcement by RTE that they have postponed the decision to shut the long wave radio transmitter. The signal was due to cease in mid-January, and with the medium wave service having ended in 2008, listeners in the North would be reliant on the FM signal. RTE have confirmed that the service will now be maintained to 2017, and research will be commissioned in relation to how listeners outside of Ireland access the service.

Bradley: McAlinden outstanding leader of Southern Health Trust

SDLP Newry and Armagh Assembly Member Dominic Bradley, has paid tribute to Mairead McAlinden, Chief Executive of the Southern Health Trust, who has announced she will be leaving the post for a position in Devon. Following the announcement, Mr Bradley stated that Ms McAlinden has made a tremendous contribution to the management of the Health Service in the area.
