McKinney: Department needs to explain why we are paying for NHS operations twice

SDLP Health Spokesperson Fearghal McKinney has today said that he is appalled to learn that there were nearly 170,000 appointments cancelled by hospitals last year. At the same time there were a record number of independent sector appointments – just over 91,000 which is a 66% increase since 2010.
