Following the announcement that Belfast would get a City Deal in the Budget, SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood and Foyle MLA wrote to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland inviting him to the North West to see first hand the need to deliver a City Deal for Derry.
SDLP Councillor Martin Reilly was able to secure support for the SDLP initiative in the Council Chamber on Thursday afternoon when Council backed his proposal to invite the Secretary of State.
Tierney: Residents waiting too long for disabled parking bays

SDLP Derry Councillor Brian Tierney has welcomed a commitment from Transport NI to review the process for allocating new disabled parking bays. Currently the process can take longer than 9 months from request to installation, a timeframe that Cllr Tierney says is far too long.
SDLP Councillor John Boyle, has said, he believes it is "truly appropriate" that the Council Planning Committee supported an application for the siting of a commemorative plinth and plaque to remember the late tour guide and charity campaigner Martin McCrossan.
McClelland appeals for information after vicious attack in Newtownabbey

SDLP Antrim & Newtownabbey Councillor is shocked after an attack on a 59 year old man left him with serious injuries. The 59 year old was found in a serious condition by a passing police patrol outside of commercial premises in the Longwood Road area around 10.45pm on Tuesday night.
