John Gallen was first elected to the amalgamated Lisburn and Castlereagh Council in its inaugural local elections in May 2014.
Originally from the Creggan area of Derry, John moved with his family as a young boy, living in Nigeria and London, before settling in the Castlereagh South DEA, where he has lived for the past years.
An engineer by trade, John is the local chair for the Bureau of Engineers and Surveyors, providing continuing professional development for engineers for inspection companies. John was volunteer of the year for the Society of Operations Engineers recently.
He has also sat on the local Parish Pastoral Council in Drumbo.
