Durkan calls for world-class one-year cancer survival rates
SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan has taken up a new role as Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer (APPGC) at Westminster, and is calling for improving one-year cancer survival rates in Derry and throughout the North.
By 2020, almost half of the UK population will receive a cancer diagnosis during their lifetime. However, cancer survival rates in the North and Britain are among the worst in Europe – not least because many people are diagnosed too late. The APPGC believes that this must change.
