Burns: Residents traumatised following Antrim evacuation

SDLP South Antrim MLA Thomas Burns has said those responsible for planting a suspicious device in the residential Portlee Walk area of Antrim have displayed a total disregard for the local community.

Mr Burns said: “To have to flee your home at any time is a distressing experience, but to be evacuated late at night in bitterly cold conditions with snow on the ground is totally traumatic, particularly for elderly people in Portlee Walk and the many young families that live here.

“Those responsible for planting this device have yet again displayed a callous disregard for this community and belong behind bars.

“I strongly appeal to people with any information about attacks in this area to pass it onto the police as a matter of urgency.”
