Cllr Durkan: Taxi hijacks ‘sinister’

SDLP Derry councillor Mark H Durkan has said two attempted taxi hijackings in Coshowen were sinister and may have had the potential to cause a security alert.

Mon 2nd August

He said: “This incident certainly seems sinister and had the potential to cause more problems than came from it. Thankfully, there were no injuries and this did not result in a large scale security alert, however, when masked and armed men are involved it is worrying.

 

“I appeal to anyone with information to pass it to the police. Taxi operators provide an essential service and deserve not to be targeted in this manner.”
