Dallat welcomes Ballyrashane green energy project

SDLP Environment Spokesperson and East Derry MLA John Dallat has welcomed the announcement that a green energy at Ballyrashane Creamery near Coleraine is to go ahead.

Wed 2nd February

Mr Dallat said: “After a very productive meeting with the management of the co-operative I am satisfied that there is a genuine commitment to develop this green energy project which will help secure 150 jobs at the plant with no adverse impact on the local community or its people.

“The co-op management has assured me that they are very keen to share this exciting project with local people so that they understand the very positive impact it will have, while at the same time assuring them that there is no fear that Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Technology is anything that they should worry about.

“On the contrary, I am convinced that there is a big plus in this process which produces gas from creamery washes, local energy crops and cattle slurry from local farms.”
