Durkan: Derry public realm scheme will be completed

Commenting on the news that finances are not available to complete the public realm scheme to revitalise the centre of Derry, Foyle MP Mark Durkan said:

“It is understandable that people want to know what the physical and financial problems are and how this issue will be solved.

“However, I have spoken to the Social Development Minister and she has reiterated her determination that the public realm scheme will be completed.

“The Minister has reiterated her determination that £8m will be spent on the £8m project that has already begun.

“Margaret Ritchie is not for letting a scheme of this magnitude remain unfinished in such a significant city centre location.”
