Gallagher: Community must help protect elderly

SDLP Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Tommy Gallagher said the whole community must help protect the elderly from the criminals who prey on them.

Mr Gallagher said the violent robbery of brothers aged 72 and 76 in Dungannon is shocking in the extreme. “These two men were confronted in their  home on Sunday evening by a gang of six masked men who smashed their way in, ransacked the place and stole money. They were prepared to terrorise elderly people for the sake of a few pounds and they will do it again unless they are caught. People need to be vigilant on behalf of the elderly and vulnerable. The whole community must work with the police to put this gang where they can do no more harm.”
