Cllr Kelly said: "It’s my hope that this weekend’s Planetlove festival will pass off without incident. Over the past few weeks I have been contacted by a large number of local residents who have expressed their concern about the potential for trouble at this festival.
“Residents who live in and around the King’s Hall have faced enormous disruption during previous concerts at the King’s Hall and are afraid that this weekend will be the same. I am particularly concerned that at 1am thousands of people will be exiting the King’s Hall onto our streets.
"I hope that the organisers, along with Belfast City Council's environmental health team and the PSNI have done everything to ensure that this weekend's festivities go off without incident. Over the course of this weekend there will be thousand of people descending on South Belfast and I would ask everyone attending Planetlove to extend some of this love to local residents.
“The festival goers may just be passing through our area but for thousand of people this is their home. All I ask for is that people respect the rights of residents and that they go to, and leave, the King’s Hall in a way which causes as little disruption as possible.
"I have been in discussion with both the PSNI and City Council and have called for a high visibility presence on both nights to ensure that Planetlove passes off peacefully."
