Kelly: Contractor performance protocol a positive move

SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly has welcomed a move by the Department of Finance and Personnel to issue a protocol to manage poor contractor performance and ensure fair payment to sub-contractors on public projects.

She said: “The matter of sub-contractors’ invoices not being paid in a timely manner has been raised with me at a local level and I know for a fact of at least one firm where redundancies have had to be made because of this.

 

“The introduction of a protocol to militate against this and to ensure that Centres of Procurement Expertise can issue certificates of unsatisfactory performance to contractors is a very welcome measure which can protect jobs and help keep our economy healthy.”
