Mallon shocked at North Belfast stabbing

SDLP North Belfast councillor Nicola Mallon has expressed her shock after a teenager was stabbed in the neck in the Carlisle Road / Victoria Parade area on Friday night.

She said: “First and foremost, I’m glad that the victim of this attack has not suffered life-threatening injuries. I wish the victim a speedy recovery.

“Knife crime has no place on the streets of North Belfast or anywhere else and we need tough sentencing laws to get through to people that carrying and using knives is not acceptable.

“We could easily have had a tragedy here and we need to educate people about the real dangers of knife crime.”
