McDevitt: Murphy must address low-flying aircraft problem

SDLP Regional Development Spokesperson Conall McDevitt MLA has called for ministerial action following reports of roof damage to another house in Belfast as a result of low flying aircraft coming into George Best Belfast City Airport.

Wed 9th June

The South Belfast MLA said: “This incident is very concerning and I am calling on the Minister for Regional Development Conor Murphy to seek an immediate report into this and last week’s cases.

“Residents should not have to put up with this consistent damage to their homes and unless this problem is addressed, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured by these low flying aircrafts.

“It is essential that the Minister also ensures that swift action is taken by Belfast City Airport to prevent further impairment to properties by planes in their flight path.”
