Quigley: Armed robbery will not deter Derry business community

SDLP Derry City Councillor Helen Quigley has condemned an armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant in Springtown on Thursday.

Mon 13th September

She said: “This was a disgusting attack on a businesses premises trying to forge ahead in difficult times and offer a service to the local community. It is difficult enough for businesses to make ends meet at the moment without facing this type of deterrent.

 

“The use of firearms in this attack certainly adds a sinister element and I am thankful that nobody was injured. However, the psychological trauma for the retailer and staff can be difficult to overcome.

 

“I urge anybody with information to pass it to the police and further hope that the retail industry in the city will no be phased by these cowards and continue to offer the city with distinction.”
