Ritchie pays tribute to Cardinal Daly

SDLP Social Development Minister and South Down MLA Margaret Ritchie has payed tribute to the late Cardinal Cathal Daly saying he represented the apotheosis of a shared society.

She said: “For me Cardinal Cathal Daly represented the epitome of a shared society.

 

“He provided great leadership through his opposition to all forms of violence throughout the Troubles.

 

“Cardinal Daly’s Christian views and spiritual works resonated with reconciliation and ecumenism.

 

“People throughout Ireland should aspire to the goodness and forthrightness of his perspective and outreach, particularly during such bleak, repressed times.”
