Ritchie welcomes movement on Narrow Water Bridge project

SDLP Leader and South Down MP Margaret Ritchie has welcomed the news that planning applications are due to be submitted next month for the provision of a bridge at Narrow Water linking counties Down and Louth.

Wed 6th October

Ms Ritchie said: “I have made ongoing representations on this proposal and have been informed by Louth County Council that design work on the bridge and site investigations are ongoing, and that a planning application will be submitted for planning permission in the South in early November 2010. It is hoped that that the planning process will also commence in the North around the same time.

“The SDLP will continue to outline our support for this scheme due to the many economic and social benefits it would create for residents, as well as promoting further tourism opportunities for visitors from across Ireland and abroad.

“I hope that further progress will be made in the very near future in order to move ahead positively with this project.”
