McKevitt: Historic results North and South

Ritchie: Treasury admits removing tax credits will leave people worse off

SDLP South Down MP Margaret Ritchie has called on the British Government to end its moves to remove in-work benefits. Ms Ritchie made her comments after an admission from the Treasury that people will be financially disadvantaged by the removal of Working Tax Credits announced by the Chancellor in July. Ms Ritchie has submitted an early day motion in support of retaining current working tax credits that has attained cross party support including signatures from Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and Alex Salmond.

Durkan: Treat people with mental health issues with dignity & respect

SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan is supporting World Mental Health Day 2015 – 10 October – and is calling on people in Derry and throughout the North to treat mental health sufferers with the dignity and respect they deserve. Every year – on 10 October – campaigners join together in shining a spotlight on a particular aspect of mental health. The theme for 2015 is ‘Dignity in Mental Health’.
