Durkan: Latest threat will not divide our community

SDLP Foyle Westminster Candidate Mark Durkan has condemned those responsible for an ongoing security alert on the Limavady Road in Derry. A suspicious object has been found at the perimeter fence of the Territorial Army base and houses have been evacuated from the Rockport Park area. Trains have also been cancelled due to the proximity of the alert to train lines. After visiting the scene, Mr Durkan asserted that threats would not destabilize peace in Derry.

Attwood: Homophobia has no place in West Belfast

SDLP West Belfast Councillor Tim Attwood has condemned a homophobic hate crime that occurred in West Belfast last night. At around 9pm paint was thrown at a house in Roden Street causing damage to a window. Describing the attack as deplorable, Mr Attwood said that intimidation and homophobia has no place in West Belfast.
