Speaking this morning at an SDLP event in Derry City, the SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MLA and SNP MP Drew Hendry agreed City Deals could “drive growth” in the local economy. The politicians also stressed that the British Government has “big questions to answer” over the funding of City Deals through the confidence and supply agreement with the DUP.

Durkan: Pay deal money must reach front line

SDLP Health Spokesperson Mark H Durkan MLA has said that any resource made available as a result of a pay deal struck with NHS England must reach front line staff in Northern Ireland. Mr Durkan said that the resource cannot be used to plug a temporary hole while stretched staff face burn out.
