Quinn welcomes slow signs for Nursery school but says more is needed

Torrent SDLP Councillor Malachy Quinn has welcomed the new signs and road markings on the Coole Road for the Little Flower Nursery but says that more is needed to make the area safer for both parents and pupils attending the school.

Cllr Quinn said “While I am pleased with the new road markings and signs that Transport NI have installed on either side of the road for the Little Flower Nursery School, I believe much more is needed to make the area safer for both parents and children. Myself along with members of staff met with Transport NI and we all expressed our concern about the speed and the volume of traffic that goes past the area in the morning and afternoon and how dangerous it can be for parents and children using the school.”

Cllr Quinn continued “We have asked Transport NI to install Flashing Warning Lights on the Coole Road for the Little Flower Nursery School similar to those that have already been approved for Aughamullan Primary School which they have agreed to go and investigate. I have also been in contact with the Roads depot in Dungannon and stressed the need for the Coole Road to be gritted over the winter especially with 2 schools on the road. If these measures are taken it will improve massively the road safety for road users in the area.”
