Dobbins welcomes Culmore social Housing development
SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins said:
“I want to welcome the approval of an application for 50 social homes and associated amenities in the Ballynagard area of Culmore.
“This is an historical application from Derry City Council and negotiations have been ongoing for over 6yrs between council and residents. Residents rightly raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and the condition of roads infrastructure which was totally inadequate.
“I’m pleased that the resident’s steering and working group eventually reached an agreement relating to community amenities as there are other plans for a MUGA and community facilities elsewhere within Culmore.
“This is a good news story for the Culmore area. I have consistently campaigned for more community facilities within this area and I believe that this development will go some way to provide that.
“What’s needed now are more bungalow type accommodation to meet the clear demand for accommodation for those with complex needs in this area. SDLP offices are inundated with requests for specialist accommodation every week. We will continue to press for more for Culmore.”
