Gardiner: Benefits of a Derry City deal will stretch much further than Derry
Cllr Gardiner commented:
“The SDLP have been committed to achieving a City Deal for Derry for some time. When we first brought the idea to the fore, our intentions lay in tackling gross decades of underinvestment in the North West and those intentions remain the same today.
“A City Deal for Derry will mean a thriving Derry. However, a thriving Derry in isolation is impossible, rather our neighbours in places like Donegal, Strabane and Limavady, are set to be beneficiaries.
“The potential growth for Derry in securing a deal cannot be understated. Such an injection of funds will go a long way to conquering regional economic imbalance, investment in services, job creation, all of which will not be confined to our city, but will permeate to surrounding regions, as people travel to and from work, businesses expand and infrastructure grows.”
