McKillop gives thumbs down to Red Bay stop for Cushendall bus

SDLP Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop has said that the unilateral decision by Translink to stop the Ballymena-Cushendall bus service five miles short of its destination is nonsensical. Cllr McKillop has been inundated with complaints since it was discovered that during the Cushendall Festival the regular bus service would not be coming to the village.

She said:

"Of course there are logistical problems, but discontinuing the bus service is no solution and I have asked that an alternative solution is found to getting the bus through the village during the festival.

"Can you imagine a passenger taking a bus from Ballymena to our picturesque seaside village and told at Waterfoot its Shank’s Mare the rest of the way!

"I have contacted Translink and asked them to reconsider this unilateral decision in light of the number of complaints made since it became public knowledge.

"Translink needs to come up with something better than this and hopefully put a plan into action which does not include cutting the journey short."
