Cllr Declan McAlinden

Craigavon

First elected in 2011, Declan McAlinden is a member of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council. He has been instrumental in securing funds for various groups throughout the Borough, including funding for the brand new 3G pitch for Sarsfields GAC.  Currently, he is serving as vice chair of the South Lake Leisure Centre (SLLC) project board and is vice chair on the Planning Committee in Council.

Declan is well known throughout the area as the go-to man for anyone needing help with local issues. Married to Antoinette with three sons and one daughter, Declan lives in his native Derrytrasna. A plasterer by trade, he spends all his spare time in the service of his community, including his commitment as committee member of Sarsfields GAC.

In addition to his otherwise heavy workload Declan has a strong commitment to social justice. He has travelled to South Africa from 2006 volunteering for the Mellon Trust, helping to build much needed social housing and educational facilities for local township communities.
