Eugene Reid is a former lecturer in Further Education and an employee of the Pharmaceutical Sector. With a background in Science and especially Environmental Science he is hugely interested in the environment and creating sustainable business across many sectors including Agri-Food and Energy. One of his first motions on Mid and East Antrim Council proposed the setting up of a Climate Crisis Committee, which received cross party support.
His business interests have led to his position on the Management Committee of the Ballymena Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is currently President of The Chamber. Eugene is a member of the Borough Growth Committee at Mid and East Antrim and is a former Vice-Chair of that group.
Eugene is involved in a number of voluntary sector organisations in the Ballymena area as well as being a keen runner and cyclist. Eugene is a member of the Board of Governors of a local post primary school and takes a keen interest in promoting STEM subjects in local schools. Eugene is married to a nurse and has 2 grown up children.
