Garbhán was selected to fill his father's vacant Fermanagh & Omagh district council seat in June 2016.

Garbhán is a 35 year old science & technology technician at St. Fanchea’s College Enniskillen.

Having retained the seat in Garbháns first election in May 2019, he has made it his sole priority to represent each & every person in the Erne East DEA to the best of his ability.

Garbhán is current Chair of the Environmental Services committee on the council, as well as current mental health champion. Both positions he is very proud and privileged to hold. Other positions include membership of the Disability Advisory Group, Arts Forum, Peace IV to name but a few. 

Previously Garbhán was chair of Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism Group.
