Downpatrick

Gareth is a local councillor for the Downpatrick DEA within Newry, Mourne and Down Council. Co-opted in 2011, Gareth has represented the area of Downpatrick and Lecale for 10 years, focused on many issues and projects for the better of the community. 

Gareth has held a number of positions during his council terms and is currently the Chair of Strategic Policy and Resources in the council, and the Group Leader for the SDLP in Newry, Mourne and Down Council. He is also the party's Equalities Spokesperson.

Gareth comes from a background of IT in industries such as Consulting, Financial Services, Aerospace and Telecommunication. 

Outside of council, Gareth is involved in his local Gaelic club, football club and local playgroup organisation.
