Helena was elected to Causeway Coast and Glens Council in May 2019 and represents Bann District Electoral Area. She is currently the Chair of the Planning Committee and also sits on the Corporate Policy and Resources Committee, the Audit Committee and the Governance Working Group.

She is involved in a number of local organisations, including the Zomba Action Project, Peace V, the Riverside Theatre Management Committee, the Coleraine Twinning Association and the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA - Health, Social and Environmental Wellbeing Network).

She is passionate about end-of-life care and support. She campaigns tirelessly for fair and transparent funding for our hospices. Helena also works hard on road safety and has campaigned vigorously for 20mph speed limits outside primary schools in her DEA.

Helena was born and raised in Kilrea, Co Derry where she lives with her husband and two young daughters. She is the daughter of John Dallat, former MLA and Deputy Speaker of the NI Assembly.

Outside of politics, Helena cherishes spending time with her young family and music. She plays the harp and fiddle.
