Jim McKeever is proud to have been asked personally by the late John Hume to stand for the Party in 1997, Jim has been successful in every other election he has stood since being elected to Derry City Council in 2001.
Jim describes himself as an entrepreneur and had his own Mortgage and Finance Company which he sold to his business partner in 2002 to concentrate full-time on his council constituency work.
Jim has years of experience as Chair of various committees and a term as Deputy Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council in 2016 / 17. He has also had public appointments on the NIFRS and Foyle Port and is currently a member of NILGA and on there Executive Committee.
Jim has always had a keen interest in Road Safety and Motorsport which he remains involved with through the Cruise Centre young driver road safety project based beside the City of Derry Airport. Jim developed this Project with some of his Foster children over the past ten years to steer them away from dangerous driving and joy riding etc.
