SDLP Moor Councillor John Boyle has welcomed the beginning of work at Meenan Square, describing it as a long-awaited step forward for the local community.
Councillor John Boyle said:
“After more than two decades of delay, it is a huge relief to see work finally underway at Meenan Square. Local residents have shown immense patience and determination in pushing for this regeneration, and it is right that progress is now being made.
“This development will deliver much-needed homes, retail units, office space and a modern community hub. It represents a significant investment in the Bogside and will help address long-standing concerns about dereliction and the lack of up-to-date facilities in the area.
“I hope the start of construction signals the end of years of frustration and the beginning of a new chapter for this site. The SDLP has consistently supported the regeneration of Meenan Square in partnership with residents, and we look forward to seeing this project completed and benefiting the whole community.”
