The Moor

Councillor John Boyle was born, raised and educated in the Moor DEA. Councillor Boyle was first elected as an SDLP representative in May 2011.

In that time he has served as both Mayor (2018/19) and Deputy Mayor (2017/18) of Derry City & Strabane District Council.

John has also served as Chairperson of the Councils Planning Committee (2016/17). Councillor Boyle is currently a member of Councils Planning Committee, Environment & Regeneration Committee and the Governance & Strategic Planning Committee.

John is also a Member of the Board of Directors of City of Derry Airport, the City Centre Initiative, the Board of the Walled City Partnership and the Triax Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership. He also sits on many community organisations in his District Electoral Area.

John is a graduate of the University of Ulster and has worked in broadcast production, journalism and media training. He is an avid follower of Derry City FC and is a keen reader and traveller.
