Mid Ulster SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone has condemned the arson attack at a flat in Cookstown, which saw two people rescued by firefighters in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Patsy McGlone MLA said:

“This was an appalling attack which could have had tragic consequences. It is deeply disturbing that anyone would deliberately target a home in this way, putting lives at risk.

“My thoughts are with those injured and all those affected by this frightening incident. I commend the firefighters and emergency services for their bravery and swift action in rescuing the two people from the property.

“I would urge anyone with information to come forward to the police so that those responsible can be brought to justice.

“There is absolutely no place for this kind of reckless violence in our communities.”
