SDLP Leader of the Opposition Matthew O’Toole MLA has said that claims from First Minister Michelle O’Neill around the Executive’s record of delivery don't add up.
Ms O’Neill said the Executive has a “very strong track record of delivery”.
She said the Executive had passed a “huge, vast array of legislation”.
South Belfast MLA Mr O’Toole said:
“The spin emanating from the First Minister today would make Donald Trump blush. As a constructive opposition we have given the Executive credit on the rare occasion it is due, but to claim that the last year has been some great success is nothing short of gaslighting the public.
“Last year the Executive failed to deliver even half of its legislative programme, it took them months to bring forward a programme for government or a budget and more Assembly time was wasted speaking about meaningless motions from Executive parties than doing anything about the multitude of issues facing families across Northern Ireland.
“We have a health service that is collapsing before our eyes, housing developments are being held up by the issues at NI Water and our bodies of water continue to be polluted. These are just a few of the crises developing all around us and for the First Minister to claim that the last year has been a big success is an insult to everyone who is suffering due to their lack of delivery.”
