Married to Geraldine and living in Ballinderry Bridge, Cookstown, Patsy McGlone is an Honours Graduate in Irish Studies Patsy – tá céim sa Ghaeilge ag Patsy agus an-dáimh aige leis an chultúr Ghaelach. In his spare time Patsy enjoys wildfowling, clay pigeon shooting and writing.
Patsy was first elected as MLA for Mid Ulster in 2003 and was successfully re-elected in 2007, 2011, 2016, 2017 and 2022. He is the SDLP Rural Communities Spokesperson agus urlabhraí ar an Ghaeilge.
In May 2016 he was elected as a Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and was re-elected to that post in 2020.
He has previously served as the Chair of the Assembly’s Environment Committee, and as Chair of the Assembly’s Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee and as a Member of the Assembly’s Justice Committee. Currently Member of the Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee.
Patsy is also currently the Chair of the Assembly's All-Party Group on Construction and Chair of the APG on Country Sports.
He was an elected Local Councillor on Cookstown District Council from 1993 to 2009, and is currently a full-time public representative and elected Member of the Assembly for Mid Ulster.
