We, the undersigned, demand the recall of the Northern Ireland Assembly to support a proposal to deliver 1000 litres of home heating oil and a cap on gas and electricity prices before the crisis gets worse this autumn and winter.
Deliver urgent cost of living support
68% of homes in Northern Ireland rely on oil central heating. To date, the best the British Government and Executive Ministers have offered is £100 to help tens of thousands of struggling families through the most severe energy cost crisis in living memory.
The SDLP is proposing 1000 litres of home heating oil for all domestic consumers as part of a bespoke package that includes support for the gas and electricity price cap. No one should be left out in the cold.
