The Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) has a legal and moral responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk who engage with the party through membership, volunteering, campaigns, canvassing and any related activity.
Safeguarding children and adults at risk is an obligation for all staff, volunteers, members and elected representatives of the SDLP and staff, members and volunteers of other organisations who engage with the party through it’s political, communications, policy and organisational activity.
The purpose of this safeguarding policy is to protect children, young people and adults at
risk through any engagement with the SDLP, its staff, members, volunteers or elected
representatives. Any engagements are not limited to in-person activity but also include
interactions online, via digital connections, telephone or any other means of
communication.
