Towards a New Ireland: The SDLP's Vision for Unity

As we approach 30 years since the Good Friday Agreement, we have an opportunity to look beyond the peace it secured and ask what we want to achieve in the next 30 years.

The United States played a defining role in helping John Hume and others deliver the Agreement, establishing not only a framework for peace but the democratic pathway through which people here can choose a different constitutional future.

The SDLP believes Irish unity offers a chance to build something genuinely new: a more prosperous, outward-looking and inclusive island, combining the strengths of north and south and creating a society where every tradition has a place.
