The electoral register is being refreshed, that means that everyone must re-register to vote even if you were able to vote in the 2019 elections.

The Electoral Office has started its official canvass to refresh the electoral register, a legal requirement to secure the legitimacy of the register and protect the integrity of our democracy.

This means that everyone must re-register even if you have cast ballots in the most recent elections in 2019.

The process is simple and can be completed online - it only takes five minutes.

Who can register?

  • You must be a British, Irish, Commonwealth or European Union Citizen
  • You must be aged 17 or over by 30 November 2021
  • You must not be subject to any legal incapacity to vote

How to register

You can register online via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. This is the quickest and easiest way to register. It only takes five minutes.

If you cannot access the online portal, you can complete a paper registration form and return it to the electoral office. Download the form.

If you need any assistance with the registration process, you can contact your local SDLP representative who will be happy to assist. Contact details for all our MLAs are available at https://www.sdlp.ie/mlas.
