Colin McGrath MLA is privileged to serve the beautiful scenic constituency of South Down and believes that our response to the ongoing climate emergency will be the defining debate of our generation. The recent wildfires in the Mournes caused untold damage and destruction but have revived interest in how we respond to wildfires and how we want to regrow.

In the face of a climate emergency the SDLP is taking various steps to ensure we respond effectively to the ongoing climate emergency. We do that through Westminster, the Assembly, local Councils and local communities.
This public meeting will allow us to hear the departmental response from DAERA and hear from organisations who have been directly impacted by the recent wildfires.

This promises to be a major evening as we Respond to the recent wildfires but more importantly how we Regrow. Join us and be a part of the discussion.

Chairing the Evenings discussion will be John Hardy. John is a native of Newcastle and is currently working for the Scottish Green Party while an activist for Extinction Rebellion.

Panel for the evening will be:
Colum McDaid and Mark Hammond - Natual Environment Division DAERA.
Mark Smyth - Western Area Command and Wildfire Officer, NI Fire & Rescue Service
Martin Carey - CEO Mourne Heritage Trust
