Get Into Politics: Join the conversation on Saturday 28th March at the Clayton Hotel, Belfast.
Thinking about getting more involved in politics but not sure where to start? This event is for you.
Join us for an afternoon of honest conversation, real insight and practical information about what political life really looks like. Hear from people who have taken the plunge, find out what being a councillor or MLA involves, and hear everything you need to know about running for election.
Whether you are curious, considering standing, or just want to know more, you will leave with a clearer picture of how you can get involved and make a difference in your community.
The event has 2 sessions:
Session one - 10am - 11.30am: first up is a dedicated session for women thinking about getting into politics delivered by 50:50 NI, providing an overview of politics and policy here, from local councils to the Assembly to the House of Commons.
Session two - 11.30am - 2pm: Following a welcome from party leader Claire Hanna MP, this session is for everyone with an interest in politics. We'll take an honest look at life in politics, from what inspired people to get involved, to the realities of being a councillor or MLA, and what it takes to run for election. Matthew O'Toole MLA will close with how you can make a difference, before we open up to your questions.
